New Hampshire Gay Men's Chorus

Michael Trotta - member since September 1998

We move back to the big bad bass section and have a chat with Michael. Michael is 54 and partnered with second tenor, Normand Chouinard. Michael is a registered nurse and is employed as a case manger at a community medical center. Michael lives in Hooksett and has been with the chorus for over eight years.

Michael’s favorite activities include traveling, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. His favorite movie is Grease because he loves seeing John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in leather. Michael's favorite musical is Chicago. He is also a big fan of Bob Fosse's choreography.

Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention is Michael's favorite band. His favorite singer, however is Sting. Michael's favorite book is Coma by Robin Cook. He describes it as "a great murder mystery set in a hospital, where patients check in for “minor” surgery and never wake up again."

Michael's best moment in the chorus came when the group sang at his daughter's wedding. The songs that he never wants to hear again are The Happy Wanderer and Reuben Ranzo (which makes two votes against that one now). Michael does add, if the chorus is still around after he passes on, he will come back to haunt us if either of those songs are sung at his memorial service.

Speaking of passing on, Michael will sing Let Me be the Music for his maker when the time comes. He could not think of a song that he would like the chorus to try now, however. Nor did he have a question for the next questionnaire.

Finally, Michael’s goals for the chorus are to be accompanied by an orchestra (okay, Gary, how many instruments can you play at once?) and to play at the Portsmouth Music Hall and the Capital Center for the Arts in Concord. Thank you for your time, Michael!
