Charles (Chuck) Hill - member since March 1998
We travel across the room tonight and have a visit with Chuck, one of our original Baritones. Chuck is 56 and single (and available) and perhaps has the smallest penmanship I've ever seen... but quite neat! Chuck lives in Manchester and works a variety of jobs including foster parenting, adult foster care for the handicapped, and being a florist.
Chuck's favorite activities include traveling, cooking, and making wine. His favorite movie is The American President, with Michael Douglas and Annette Bening. Chuck's favorite musical is Hello Dolly!, though he did not say if he preferred Barbra Streisand's 1969 movie version or Carol Channing's 1964 Broadway version. Chuck's favorite author is Stephen King and he enjoys all of his work.
Chuck's favorite band is Boney M. He made me do some research on this band. Boney M can best be described as a Eurodance, pop, and disco group that had phenomenal success back in the seventies. I listened to a sample of their greatest hits and honestly couldn't recognize one, but I did find out that they were the only band to have two singles in the UK top ten at the same time. This was a feat that the Beatles didn't even accomplish. They are among the elite groups (like Abba and The Beatles) to be known world wide.
Chuck's best moment in the chorus came when the first CD, Nostalgic Holiday was published. The song that he never wants to hear again is To Watch Our Garden Grow. He couldn't think of a song that the chorus should try (but how about Boney M's Daddy Cool?). When Chuck meets his Maker, he would prefer to be sung to, as opposed to attempting a solo.
The question that Chuck would like to see next time: "Who is available for dating?" His response was, "me!" Chuck's goals for the chorus are to expand to 50 singers (or more) and to eventually join forces with a big chorus be it the Boston Gay Men's Chorus, or whomever! Thanks, Chuck!
